Artificial Limbs In Gujarat – A New Lease to Life

We often hear people complaining about the obstacles and challenges faced by them be it time constraint, work related stress, lack of facility etc while trying to accomplish a particular task. People tend to forget the most important gift they possess in form of good health. These people are indeed mentally disabled who will think for every reason which is roadblock to their success but not work to overcome them.

What is so common between extremely successful people like Beethoven, Helen Keller, Stephen Hawking ? It is their indomitable will in the face of disability and their extreme passion for their work. At times, it was their disability which motivated them to maintain a razor like focus on their goals. It is truly said that disabled person is indeed a differently abled individual. God has showered his blessing on every individual equally and so everyone has been enough strength to achieve whatever one desires.

Even in our country, there are many brave hearts who have never let their physical disability come in the way of achieving their lofty goals. We all have heard about Sudha Chandran, the graceful Bharatnatyam dancer who at a tender age of 16 years met with a fatal accident in year 1981 where she lost her right leg. But the one thing which remained firmly with her was her “Never say Die “spirit to pursue her dreams. So, with prosthetic” Jaipur Foot” she embarked on a successful journey of not only becoming a established Classical Dancer but also a renowned Actress . She won the National Award for her work in film “Mayuri” which was based on her true story and which inspired millions of people to pursue their dream irrespective of challenges faced by them.

The Indian Army is perfect examples of heroes which have continued to serve the nation irrespective of whether they are physically fit or not. They are light house of inspiration and courage to everyone who doubt their capabilities of achieving something worthwhile when physically challenged. One such pearl who has been the epitome of Courage and who is a true role model for generations is Major Devender Pal Singh. Having lost his leg during th Kargil War, Major was determined to contribute and serve the nation. So he started on his journey of running using prosthetic Limb and soon become the famous as “India’s first Blade runner”. He has run multiple marathons and was included the “People of the Year 2016” by Limca book of records.

With the advancement of Science and Modern Technology, there are now avenues for everyone to rise above  their physical challenges and adopt artificial means which can help them to pursue their dreams. There are now hospitals and clinics which are serving the people by providing them prosthetic body parts to overcome their challenges. As the famous quote goes “ The only Disability in life is bad attitude”, so if there is an attitude of achieving the success irrespective of the hurdles , then there are certainly means and avenues for achieving the same.

Always remember in life “Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional “.
