You will always have more if you look at what you have in life and you will never have enough if you focus on what is missing. We can only imagine the difficulty and trauma that amputees go through and often assume that they have a miserable life. The sad reality is that they are made fun of too by insensitive people. What people fail to realize that such strong people are recovering, slowly working on themselves, and will eventually rise like a titan. Yusuf is one such individual who overcame this and eventually turned his life around.
In the year 2018, Mr. Yusuf was traveling from Baroda to Dahod to meet his family. While getting off the train he fell on another track and before he could even move a train ran over his legs. He was frightened and could not fathom what had just happened. The bleeding and pain were unbearable. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and when his family received the news they hurried to be by his side. The common concern of everyone was how will he recover and live a normal life. They felt hopeless as they could not change anything and did not know what his future will be like. They were worried about how long will it take for him to start walking again.
However, in this chaos, Mr. Yusuf kept his calm throughout the process and researched prosthetic legs. He was aware of the prosthesis and had hopes that he will be able to walk again. This knowledge kept him going. He had to undergo surgery and was asked to take bed rest for 4 months. Even during those 4 months he was motivated, believed in himself and the fact that he will soon be able to walk. Seeing his positive attitude, his family especially his mom and brother also felt motivated and decided to trust and support him. There were times when people around him would say demotivating stuff or label it as an unfortunate situation that would adversely impact all his plans but he did not let such comments and views shake his belief.
While researching he came across GetBak and learned about the prosthesis services being provided. After talking with Dr. Chandni Korat he was convinced that he could rely on GetBak and he was not proved wrong. In the 4 months of his bed rest, Dr. Chandni prepared a prosthetic leg for him and later he started his treatment. He was more than satisfied with the quality of the leg and even the process GetBak followed to teach him how to get accustomed to it. The best part was that he could walk, do everything he wanted, and prove all the haters’ wrongs. His dedication and trust were fruitful in the end.
It has been more than 2 years now, he is living an amazing life in Kuwait and running his business of office supplies. He enjoys every minute and still believes that there is nothing an amputee can not do. All they need is to believe in themselves and never give up.
He wants to convey to his fellow brave amputees that one cannot change the past and therefore should start thinking about what can be done in the future. Worrying will never help and nor will overthinking. Hence, live an amazing tension-free life and stop comparing yourself with others. There is nothing that others can do and they cannot. As long as they use their brain and be positive, it’s easy to prove anyone who thinks less of such survivors wrong.
